Our journey from Flagstaff, Arizona to Santa Fe, New Mexico consisted of 3 main stops:
- Geronimo Trading Post
- Cars Movie Motel
- Petrified National Forest

The Geronimo Trading Post is the perfect little gift shop and has all types of souvenirs, blankets, etc. I bought my favorite souvenir here – a green marble cactus.
The outside of the shop is so adorable with several Native American tents, a windmill, and a large piece of pottery.
The woman working behind the counter was very kind and even told us about the Wigwam hotel! We were so thankful, because we would have totally missed it.
Location: 5372 Geronimo Rd, Joseph City, AZ 86032.

Life is a highway. I want to ride it all night long.”
Rascal Flatts
If you’re a big Disney fan, this Wigwam Hotel is something you must add to your list. Located in Holbrook, Arizona this motel features one of Disney’s favorites – the Cars movie.
You even get to meet Mater!
And the coolest part about this place is that you can actually stay overnight in the teepees. (These teepees are actual buildings). We did not stay here, but we enjoyed visiting the facility.
Location: 811 W Hopi Dr, Holbrook, AZ 86025

The Petrified Forest National Park is vast with petrified wood, which is buried fossilized tree trunks that overtime became beautiful stone due to the force of strong bodies of water. I personally believe this is a perfect example of the flood, as mentioned in the book of Genesis. These fossilized pieces are on display in the fields of the park.
The park also has large dirt mounds of multi color rings. Very beautiful!
The cost to visit the park is $25 per vehicle. We were able to use our Annual Park Pass so we did not have to pay anything to enter.
Even though I am glad we visited this location, I would have been disappointed if we had paid the full amount to enter the park.

After visiting these three locations, we continued our way to New Mexico. We were so happy to stay in the same hotel for several nights in a row! We decided to stay in Albuquerque and take day trips to the neighboring places on our list.
